OTUNBA OBALOFIN OF IJEBU
Otunba Justus Olugbenga Daniel is an accomplished Engineer, a consummate politician, quintessential manager and philanthropist.
He attended Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta, The Polytechnic, Ibadan and later studied Engineering at the University of Lagos.
He was a two-term governor of Ogun State and Founder/Chairman, Kresta Laurel Limited, Lagos; an engineering firm blazing the trail in a world dominated by foreign corporate giants as the foremost and the only ISO 9001 certified Lift Company in Nigeria.
As the governor of Ogun State between 2003 and 2007, his administration lived up to expectation by bringing positive innovation and productive dynamism into governance by firmly putting in place an agenda of modernization in Ogun State.
After leaving office in 2011, Otunba Daniel established an academy; the Political Leadership Training Institute with the vision to propagate principles and capacities needed for effective value-based socio-political and economic leadership.
He was also at a time, the Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State.
In 2018, he offered himself for the exalted post of the National Chairmanship of the nation’s main opposition political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also spearheaded the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization which secured the candidacy of the former Vice President as the PDP presidential flag bearer in the 2019 general election.
Otunba Daniel had since quietly retired from partisan politics and back to his engineering profession, youth mentoring and philanthropy.
He is the founder of a not-for-profit organization, the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) which has, over the years, impacted positively on the lives of many through humanitarian and charitable activities.
In recognition of his contributions to societal development in different spheres, Otunba Daniel has been honoured with several academic laurels, awards, and chieftaincy titles including the Otunba Obalofin of Ijebuland, Arole of Remoland, Olu-Nla of Egbaland, Oga-Nla of Yewaland Fesojoye of Ile Ife (the Source) among many others.
He is also the Asiwaju Onigbagbo (Okunrin) of Remo Christians.
As a mixer and noble personality, Otunba Daniel belongs to foremost social Clubs in the country. On the home front, he is the Balogun of Egbe Bobakeye, Akile Ijebu and the Baba Egbe of two prominent age grade groups; Egbe Jagunmolu Obinrin (Stainless) and Egbe Tobalase Obinrin (Obalofin), Akile Ijebu.
Otunba Gbenga Daniel is married to Yeye Olufunke, the Yeye Obalofin of Ijebuland and they are blessed with children.
