OTUNBA GBELEGBUWA OF IJEBU

Otunba Busura Adedeji ALEBIOSU, the Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebu, is a Nigerian politician, political leader and businessman born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State to Princess Sinotu Tiamiyu Alebiosu – the granddaughter of Princess Adenaike, daughter of Gbelegbuwa the first, Oba Adegbite, and Alhaji Timiyu Alebiosu of Osmire of Ijasi Quarters.

He attended Paddington Technical College and Hammer Smith College of Art and Building, where he studied Welding Engineering. He moved back to Nigeria in 1967 and worked with Jammal Structural Engineering Ltd, UAC Technical, Ido, Lagos.

He established Helios Engineering Company with Hon. Justice Sola Oguntade in 1971 and later Jaseal Construction Company and Mirima Furniture.

In 1976, he was elected as a Councilor in Shomolu Local Govt., representing Anthony Village Lagos. Following his outstanding representation, he was elected to Lagos State House of Assembly in 1979 during the Jakande administration, under the UPN. He was re-elected in 1983 back to the Lagos State House of Assembly until the December 1983 coup.

He was installed as the Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebu by the Awujale, Oba Dr. S.K. Adetona on the 20th of May, 1988.

As a politician, he played a prominent role in the realization of democracy in Nigeria as an active member of NADECO in Lagos State. He is also a founding member of the GAC (Governor’s Advisory Council) of Lagos State since inception till date.

Otunba Busura Alebiosu is the Asiwaju Adinni of Ijebu Ode Central Mosque.

He is married to Otunba Mrs. H. F. Adepeju Alebiosu (Otunba Adefugba of Ijebu) with children and grand children.
