Otunba Abiodun Onanuga was born June 22^nd 1958 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. His grandfather Alhaji Mustafa Onanuga of Anikilaya ruling house was the Giwa (Captiain) of Obafowora age grade. His late father Alhaji Ishola Onanuga is also from Jadiara Royal family through Fetuga his maternal grandfather and Olisa Olukoga of Ijebu-Ode through his maternal grandmother.

Otunba Onanuga’s mother, Alhaja Bisola Onanuga is from Bubiade Royal family through her maternal grandfather Omo-Oba Alfa Kadiri, and Obelu Lukan Royal family of Esure through her maternal grandmother, the first Iya Suna of Ijebu-Imushin. Alhaja Bisola Onanuga’s father was also from the Olufesogbade ruling house of Ijebu-Ife.

He started his early education at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Italupe between 1963-1969, and also attended the prestigious Ijebu-Ode Grammar School between 1970-1974. He then proceeded to the Federal School of Science, Victoria Island for his ‘A’ levels from 1974-1975 and later to Yaba College of Technology in 1976 where he graduated with a distinction grade HND Building in 1981. He had his one-year National Service Corps at the Federal Housing Authority between 1981 and 1982.

He is a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian institute of Building (FNIOB), Member of Nigerian Institute of Management; a Member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; a Council Member, Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and a Member of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and Industry United Kingdom.

In 1982 Otunba Onanuga founded his construction and property development company NUGACON Limited in Lagos which was incorporated as a Limited Liability Company in January 1984.

Otunba Onanuga has also contributed to the socio-economic development by serving as a member of Lagos State transitional work group in 1999 and the Ogun State transitional work group in 2003. He also served as a member of the board, Gateway Pharmaceuticals between 1999-2003; a member of the Ijebu Development Board on Poverty Reduction in 2002 till present; a member of the Ijebu Ode Central Mosque Building Technical Committee; and as Chairman, Awujale Palace Building Technical Committee.

He is a Socialite and member of the prestigious social clubs including, Island Club, Onikan, Lagos; Ikoyi Club 1938; Obanta Social Club, Ijebu-Ode; Ijebu-Ode Club; Heritage Club; and the Renaissance Group. He is the Giwa of Egbe Bobakeye Akile Ijebu age group (1956-1958), and a member of the Awujale’s Council of Otunbas.

Otunba Abiodun Onanuga has been bestowed with chieftaincy titles in recognition for social impact in his community as the Otunba Tunayese of Esure, Ijebu in 1995 by Alayeluwa, Oba Dr. Kamoru Sansi, the Obelu of Esure; also as the Otunba Anikilaya of Ijebuland in 2008 by Alayeluwa, Oba Dr. S.K Adetona, CFR, JP, Ogbagba II, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. He is also a Knight Commander of the Order of the Peacock (KCOP) at the Island Club Lagos; an award which is only given to distinguished members.  

He has also been recognized professionally for attaining excellence by the Nigerian Institute of Building in 2004, and an Award of Professional Achievement was bestowed on him by the Ijebu Professional Excellence Foundation in 2014. He also received the City People Award of Excellence in the same year.

He is a family man and happily married with children.
