ABOUT AWUJALE COUNCIL OF OTUNBAS FOUNDATION (ACOF)
His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, JP, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland graciously consented to the establishment of the Awujale Council of Otunbas Foundation (ACOF), a project institution aimed at envisioning and promoting sustainable socio-economic development of Ijebuland and its people.
The foundation which is already registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission provides for Board of Trustee and a committee presided over by Otunba Dr. Kunle Hassan, the Otunba Obaruwa-Baamole of Ijebu. The foundation when fully operational will be engaged in multi-sectorial developmental activities from both self efforts and external sources like fund-raising geared towards improvements in Education, Health, Infrastructure and some other rehabilitation or recreation interventions of Institutions that are presently inactive or moribund to make them beneficial to the Citizens for training and capacity building.
ACOF’s overarching goal and objective is to make a significant contribution and difference to the upliftment of Ijebuland, and the empowerment of its citizens and in particular, the youth and women. The timing of the launching resonates with the institutionalization of Awujale Otunba Day as an annual Pre-Ojude Oba event (commencing in 2019). Also conceptualized to internationalise the Ojude Oba by captivating and attracting teeming guests to the annual religious cum socio-cultural event from Nigeria and abroad, with the pomp and pageantry and cultural significance of the event, to transform it into economic and commercial value that will benefit the Ijebus
While expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to our revered and visionary Monarch, the Awujale, for his full continued support, the Council of Otunbas, this day reaffirms its full commitment to the success of the foundation being launched, and its logo unveiled today, the 12th of August 2019.
