Mrs. Wanda Oskar Ibru (nee Swann) was born on August 5, 1957 to the late Mr. Walter Swann, and the late Mrs. Edna Swann (nee Tatum) at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, U.S.A. She is the last of six children in her immediate family. Both the Swann and Tatum families have a long history in printing and publishing. The Tatum family still operates the oldest and largest African-American newspaper in New York City; New York Amsterdam News. Yeye Otunba Boyejo’s mother was a librarian, author, educator, and a celebrated teacher of African-American history.

Yeye Otunba Boyejo attended the exclusive Rye Country Day School in Westchester County, N.Y. for her primary and secondary education. She later attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. where she graduated with a B.A in Art History and in Government. This is where she met the dashing Otunba Boyejo in the 1970’s. She also attended the American College in Paris, France. Yeye Otunba Boyejo also holds a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from North Carolina Central University, as well as a Masters degree in Library Science from the same institution. After completing her studies, she worked at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., in the American British law division as a law librarian.

Yeye Otunba Boyejo is the founder of PATHWAYS (Practical African Tourism and Hospitality Ways) in Agbarha-Otor, Delta State; an initiative to train unemployed youth in tourism and hospitality, help them find employment, and mentor them thereafter. She has established a tourism and hospitality reference resource library, and a botanical garden on 2.5 hectares at the same location.

Wanda Ibru was installed as Yeye Otunba Boyejo on August 20, 2006 by Oba (Dr.) S.K. Adetona CFR, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. Yeye Otunba Boyejo holds the Olorogun title of Oyibo Ukaro (first foreigner) from His Royal Majesty Ovie, R.L. Ogbon Ogoni 1, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Delta State. She was installed on December 15, 2000.

She is involved in numerous charitable organizations and is a member, of many clubs and organizations worldwide, including – American Women’s Club, Lagos (member and trustee); International Women’s Society of Nigeria (member); Skidmore College President’s Advisory Council (member); Apapa Club (member); Boat Club (member); Ikoyi Club (member); Polo Club (member); MUSON (Musical Society of Nigeria); Royal Horticulture Society (UK); Orchid Society of Great Britain (UK); Atlanta Botanical Garden (U.S.A.)

Her hobbies are art appreciation, gardening, entertaining, reading, travel, tennis, boating and water activities, to name a few.

Yeye Otunba Boyejo is happily married to Olorogun Otunba (Dr.) Oskar Ibru, JP and is the mother of three wonderful children (Mrs. Makashe Kayode Awogboro, Mr. Christopher Ebruba Ibru, and Miss Nenesi Ibru). She has several grandchildren, and looks forward to more.

Yeye Otunba Boyejo loves life; and loves to share the blessings that she has received
