YEYE OTUNBA OSIGADE OF IJEBU
Olugbemisola Opeyemi Oduntan (nee Obayan) a trained teacher, social administrator, human resources consultant/trainer and an accomplished businesswoman was born to the family of late High Chief Edwin Olorunfemi Obayan and Princess Eunice Tinuola Idowu Obayan both of Akunu Akoko in Ondo State.
Gbemisola started her primary education at the University of Lagos Staff School and proceeded to St Anne’s school, Molete, Ibadan where she had her secondary school education and did her school certificate examinations. She was later admitted into the University of Jos where she finished with a B.Ed. (Arts), Religion and English, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration. On graduation, she started her career as a teacher with the Lagos State Government but quickly switched to the private sector by getting an appointment with Bemil Securities Ltd. as a Human Resources/Administrative Executive. She then joined Owena Bank Plc as a Banking Officer where she rose to become the Manager (Credit) within the organisation.
After 10 years of meritorious service with Owena Bank, she resigned to join the Lanrope Group, a highly diversified group of companies, as Managing Director. She was largely responsible for the rapid growth of the company in international trade becoming one of the largest importers of Hotel and Catering equipment supplies in the country. She is also a Director of several companies within the Lanrope group of companies including Unidal Ventures Limited, Andrew Wallace Consulting Limited, Bridges and Stratt Consulting Ltd, Teritek Services ltd. She is also the Country Director of Crown Financials, South Africa.
Gbemisola has a passion for assisting the less privileged people of the society and also derives satisfaction in capacity building of the youth. With this in mind, she founded the non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as Social Reformation Initiative (SRI). SRI through Gbemisola has contributed immensely to the emancipation of many women and youth in Ijebuland. Through this initiative, over 2000 people have derived benefits directly and some 10,000 people indirectly.
In 2013, she took over as Managing Director of Seyi Oduntan Farms, which included a vast poultry farm and several hundred hectares of farmland and turned it into a highly successful farming business, through the processing and packaging of farm produce “SOFI FOODS” for local consumption and export.
Gbemisola Oduntan is currently the National Coordinator of Women National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) and is an active officer of the Lagos Chapter. She is also the Ogun Sate Coordinator of African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP), a member of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWOG), and Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce. She is an Export Consultant for Trade Facilitation Office, TFO Canada.
In 2007, she organised the ‘Good News Festival’ in conjunction with Vision International Christian Ministries and International Christian Ministries of Canada during which social amenities were provided in Ogun state including the provision of a borehole in a hospital in Ilaro, prison repairs, educational packs to all primary schools, training for Permanent Secretaries and teachers and several other Christian leaders. It was a highly successful program, which received several commendations from leaders of the various communities involved.
Gbemisola’s hobbies include reading, travelling. She is happily married to Otunba Seyi Oduntan and they are blessed with four children.
