Yeye Otunba Professor Mrs Adenike Mosunmola Osoba was born over seven decades ago into the renowned family of late Pa S. Ade Ashiru and Mrs. J.S. Ashiru, J. P of Ijebu-Ode. She got married to Otunba Prof. Abimbola Olugbemiga Osoba in 1970.

She had her primary education at Christ Church Porogun Primary School, Ijebu-Ode (1949-1955), then proceeded to AGGS, Ijebu-Ode (1956-1961), and subsequently, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School (1962-63), for her Secondary School education and A ‘levels.

She was the first and only female graduate in Economics from her set at University of Lagos (1964-1967) with a B.SC (Honours).

She travelled to the United States of America from 1968-1969 for her Masters, and graduated with M. A (Honours) Economics. It is also noteworthy to mention that she is the first female Ph.D graduate in Economics from the University of Ibadan (1971-1975).

Her professional career started as a Planning Officer, National Manpower Board, Federal Ministry of Economic Development, Lagos, 1967-1968. She moved on to be a Research Assistant, Research Director/Professor, Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER) Ibadan (1969-1991).

She has embarked on various researches for various institutions including – FEDERAL MINISTRIES, ECOWAS, WORLD BANK and ILO, etc.

She obtained the high academic rank of Professor at the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye (1991-1997, 2008-2015), where she held various positions, from HOD, Banking and Finance, to Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at various times between 1991 and 1997.

She was also recognized as an excellent teacher in the daily newspaper by The Chancellor, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, U.S.A where she was Professor from 1997-2002.

Her National assignments include; Member, Nigerian Delegation to OPEC FINANCE MINISTERS’ CONFERENCE, QUITO, EQUADOR, SOUTH AMERICA, 1981; Member, Nigerian Delegation to the Economic Committee of the UNITED NATIONS General Assembly in 2011-2013.

Her honours and chieftaincy titles include – Yeye Otunba Tajogboye of Ijebu (August 2006); Iya Ewe of Ijebu Anglican Diocese (2002); and Yeyelaafin of Owu Ijebu (1994).
